long time no post

Hey Friends! I know it’s been forever since my last post and even longer since I’ve posted consistently, but I’m hoping to change that today. If you’ve been reading this blog for long, you know I have a tendency to take small sabbaticals. Life happens and to put it simply, sometimes I just can’t keep up with it all. So, let’s see if I can recap the last few weeks and then continue to post regularly going forward. Should we take bets on how well I’ll do?? Probably not...

November is my birthday month. We celebrated another year at a local restaurant and I splurged on my favorite dessert.

November is also my Oldest Little Farmer’s birthday month. He turned eight this year and opted for another bonfire. I actually made his cake and picked up some low key decor from Walmart. You get what you pay for they say... the "harpy" birthday banner was a whopping $0.97 and brought tons of laughs.

Our Oldest Little Farmer requested UK football tickets for his birthday and we obliged. So my Farmer and I took just him and headed to the game against Middle Tennessee. He absolutely loved it. The day started out a bit cold, but ended up being perfect football weather. Afterwards, we treated ourselves at Malone’s and I couldn’t pass up this version of my favorite dessert. It’s now the version to beat.

I completed my third 5k this week. My Oldest Little Farmer and I joined in on our local Turkey Trot. I made him stay near me or he otherwise would have left me way behind. Maybe next time I’ll let him go on ahead. There were just too many people for me to feel comfortable doing that. You mamas that run with your kiddos, do you let them go on their own?

If we do not count the pound or so I’ve gained during the Thanksgiving holiday, I have lost a total of 25 lbs on this weight loss journey. I’m shooting for 5 to 10 more and then I’ll be content. I’m not in a huge hurry though. I’m trying to be a little less strict and aim for more moderation and more miles through the week. You can read more about how I’ve tackled the pounds here

I’ve been doing a little cyber shopping. I picked up two new pair of Ja-vie’s. They had select styles on sale for $49. I’ve been crushing on these tops from The Gap and then I mosied over to Abercrombie and just had to have these.

My Oldest Little Farmer finished up football and has now moved on to basketball and wrestling. He’s loving school and continues to read like it's his favorite. My Middle Little Farmer is really coming out of his shell in this year’s preschool class. He’s writing his name so well and keeps a great attitude towards his weekly “homework.”  My Littlest Farmer is changing every day. He started walking almost four months ago and hasn’t stopped getting into everything since. He understands so much and does everything to keep up with his brothers. He’s sweet, cuddly, and so happy.

As for me, keeping up with the three of them plus my Farmer, work, church, the house, the laundry, and sometimes the farm is good enough reason for me to look and feel like a hot mess, right? I sure hope so! I like to think I look like I have it all together, but what I think I look like and what I actually look like are a lot like this...

Hope you and your families had wonderful Thanksgivings! God is so incredibly good to us. I'm on a mission to be more thankful and less complacent.

  1. Posting can kind of take over you life can't it. I have to take short breaks from time to time too... I think it would start to feel like a real drag otherwise. Hope you have a nice Thanksgiving.
