please tell me i'm not alone

Hey there, Friends. I am so thankful that it is Friday and the weekend is on the horizon. This week has been a trying one. I have been such a girl - happy one minute, in tears the next. Insecure, emotional, needy, and whiny. And what's even better, over nothing at all. That in itself is disappointing because there are people with real needs that understandably should be all of those things and more. I am more than willing to admit that I'm just acting like a selfish brat.

Someone please tell me that I'm not the only one that struggles to keep their emotions in check from time to time. I mean, I know that God is in control and I'm blessed beyond all measure, but I feel like I just don't have it together. I keep lecturing myself to get a grip, that I have much to be thankful for. And as such, I need to act like it.

Emotional releases are vital for a healthy body and mind. It's a natural part of healing.:

I think this is something you have to work at, over and over again. I will keep trying... again and again.:

So - in an effort to encourage myself in the Lord and set myself aright, this week's Friday post is dedicated to sharing what I am thankful for.

First and foremost, my salvation. I often push this into the back of my mind and let the world and all the chaos of life crowd out this life altering simple truth - that I am saved and on my way to heaven. I have the comfort of knowing for sure that when I pass from this earthly life, I will be with Jesus and not in Hell. All because of Him - because He loves me that much.

My husband. My incredibly patient and unconditional loving husband. As leader of our home, I follow him because he follows Christ. He's hard working, intelligent, and full of wisdom. He is an amazing father and seriously has the biggest heart. Our love story is truly a God inspired fairy tale. He's not perfect, but he's perfect for me.

My babies. My sweet, sweet babies. Little J will be 5 soon and Little L just turned 1. I could not be more proud of either of my children. By God's grace, they have been healthy, they are always happy and content, and they both have exceedingly big hearts and the best personalities. They are growing up so fast. I'm ashamed to say that I am not appreciating the little things nearly enough.
Our family. I am so blessed to love and be loved by so many. I truly have no idea where we would be without them. We are spoiled, and blessed, and I am deeply thankful for their unending support and unwavering love.

My job. God has been so good to me. I am in a position where I am doing what I love and loving what I do. I work with great people, my employer supports and encourages maintaining a work/life balance, and there's always a new challenge to keep things from becoming stale or uninteresting.

My everything else. The list is infinite - our friends, our home, the farm, our car, our church, the laundry, the dishes, and so much more.

As much as I neglect Him, it's a complete miracle that He still blesses me. He's so merciful, incredibly patient, and perfectly compassionate. I have tons to be thankful for. Pity parties are no longer accepted here because they are unfounded!

Speaking of pity parties, my brain immediately went to this video. Pity party, party pooper - same thing! My husband is always teasing me that I am just like George Banks! Haha! All in good fun, of course.

Lastly, I want to say thank you for reading my little corner of the blogosphere. I am truly thankful for you too.

In case you missed it, be sure to check out my posts from earlier in the week. I chatted about date night, enjoyed a delicious dessert, and even impressed myself with my stylish ways!

Hope you have amazing weekends!

  1. I have felt the same way this week. It's been a busy and hectic one (which is the reason for my lack in posts!) and I've a breakdown or two, just because! I hope your weekend is much better and you have a great day =)

  2. This is such a wonderful post! We all need to reflect on what we are thankful for... and I am right there with you on my emotions. I cannot tell you how often I pause and think "why am I so selfish?" Thank heaven for God's grace!

  3. Girl you are NOT alone!! We have all been there and honestly, I get that way at least once a month for no reason, ugh!!

  4. You are definitely not alone. We ARE human. We are also hormonal women

  5. My week was pretty much the same. I always wear my heart on my sleeve and my emotions were all over the place this week too. I will be happy when 5pm hits and I get to go home and decompress. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

  6. I think everyone gets like this from time to time. You are also juggling a lot, so it is easy to get overworked and overwhelmed. I hope that this weekend is relaxing for you! Be gentle with yourself.

  7. Aw thanks for sharing how your feeling! I definitely can't hide my feelings either. My husband always makes fun of me for it. It's definitely about perspective and given your thanks in the post it definitely sounds like you have your priorities straight. Just keep on being you :)

  8. OH girl you are not alone!!! I'm pretty sure it's human nature. Loved this post and how honest and truthful it is!!

  9. I've definitely had those weeks, you're are definitely not alone! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and lots of happy moments!

  10. That's what I keep telling people - a guy doesn't have to be perfect, he just has to be perfect for you. I'm so glad to read that your husband is that for you.
I feel validated in reading those words from someone else.
I hope you had a great weekend and I'm looking forward to reading about it.
