Friday, August 31

and then came friday...

Oh Friends, I am so happy that this Friday is the kickoff to a long weekend. We have our first football game tomorrow and my Oldest Little Farmer is playing QB for now. I’m not going to lie, I’m a lot more into football than I was baseball or basketball. What is it about football? We will also probably head to the parade in town on Monday. Other than that, we’re expecting a rather routine weekend.

Now, for a few favorites from the week.

We enjoyed a few fall like days at the beginning of the week. It was such a teaser. We’re back to smoking hot temps now, but it’s official, I can’t wait to pull out the long sleeves and strike up a bonfire.

If you’ve been reading my #operationnomorefattyboop posts, then you know that I am pretty stoked about the progress I’ve made in one month’s time. Check out the latest update here where I share my victories and regrets along this weight loss journey.

I primed an Instant Pot last week, and I’ve managed a couple of meals with it. One being these baby back ribs. I will share the recipe soon. They were so easy and utterly delicious.

I had been using Batiste Dry Shampoo forever it seems, but it was like my hair became immune to it. It’s taken me a few different brands, but I finally found one that I love. Dove Refresh + Care. I really like the way it smells and how well it makes my second day hair look like freshly washed and dried hair.

I’m almost finished with Heat Wave. This has been a super easy and enjoyable read. It’s pretty anticlimactic which is exactly what I need right now, something that isn’t demanding of my time and requires little to no brain power.

Now, I need some advice. I’m running out of my current supply of Rodan + Fields, and I am not interested in replenishing it. I’m just not seeing miracles to justify that cost. I have combination skin, lots of blackheads, and some acne at all times. What are your favorite products? I’ve asked you on IG, and lots of you say Beauty Counter. Any amens to Beauty Counter or to any other products?

I think that about sums it up for me. I pray your Friday and Labor Day weekends are fabulous!

  1. Yes, thank goodness the heat wave is going away! I'll have to try that Dove! Wishing you a wonderful weekend beautiful!

  2. The product that has been the biggest game changer for my combo skin is tea tree oil! I use The Body Shop brand and just dab some in my acne-prone areas (for me it's the greasy T) before bed each night! Granted, I haven't paid much money for skin care so maybe it's a lousy thing, but my skin was breaking out like crazy around my period and that hasn't been happening much anymore! Also I can totally see the progress too!

  4. For skincare I absolutely LOVE Tula products. It has been a game changer for me. I use the face wash & day/night hydration moisturizer. I also have combo skin. I have been wanting to try Beauty Counter as well! Good luck :)

  5. You look amazing!!!! Wow! Great job, mama!! As for skin care, I just questioned the same as you. I had used R&F in the past, but then I have started trying to switch out my products so they are cleaner, which led me to Beauty Counter. I just ordered a cleansing set a couple weeks ago, so hoping I see some skin changes. What comforts me for now is it is completely safe to be slathering all over my face!!!

  9. I'm so ready for fall weather to get here officially! I already have my sweaters pulled out and ready to go. Also, I want an instant pot so bad. It's on my Christmas wish list. So hopefully Santa will leave it under the tree this year.
