all about the good stuff

Happy Friday, Friends! I hope you’ve had amazing weeks. Ours has been jam packed and this week's Friday Favorites is all about the good stuff.

Like... the first day of school! My Oldest Little Farmer headed off to second grade on Wednesday. He was so excited the night before, he couldn’t sleep. He had a great first week and is already asking for homework. What can I say? He’s his mother’s child.

He also had to have a cavity filled on Tuesday. He was so nervous, but he handled it like a champ. The dentist said he did better than most adults. I was so proud of how brave and tough he was that I literally cried. By the way, I was trying to distract myself with Girl, Wash Your Face. Have you read this? I’m a few chapters in and I am loving it!

Another first for my Oldest Little Farmer is JFL! I’m not going to lie. When he got all padded up, my inner small town country girl school spirit started to awaken.

Oh, I learned a new trick! It was the morning of the first day of school and my Oldest Little Farmer’s new shoes weren’t looking so new anymore. I had a light bulb moment and grabbed a Mr. Clean Eraser. Look at how well it did!

Let there be pumpkins... in my flower bed. I’m not going to try and sugarcoat it, I never made time for landscaping my flower beds this summer. So, when I looked among the roses one day, low and behold there was a pumpkin. I left it and now look! I can only assume it’s a product of last Fall’s pumpkins that were sitting on the front porch. I guess we’ll be all set this year come October.

Friends, if you’ve been reading for long, you know I love my Ja-vies. You can read about that love here. Anyway, they are having a flash sale through Saturday and you can get select styles for half off. This is a huge deal. I couldn’t resist and snagged these Sand/Charcoal Snake Print Flats yesterday morning. Use my referral code and get 15% off your first purchase.

ICYMI, earlier in the week I shared my weekly update on my weight loss journey: #operationnomorefattyboop. Since I’m now marginally obsessed with Rachel Hollis, I checked out her podcast and listened to the one about how she went from a size 14 to a size 2. It was totally for me and describes exactly what I’m trying to do. If you’re on this journey with me or want to be, I highly encourage you to listen to this episode.

That about sums it up for me. I’m ready for a relatively quiet weekend with just the normal, cooking, cleaning and laundry.

Happy Weekends, Friends!

  1. We had the same exact pumpkin situation this year! Except ours are all mostly dead to a powdery mildew outbreak which is a total bummer!

  5. Awe way to go on being a tough man for the filling and yay for football! Not a huge Rachel Hollis fan but the book was pretty good when I read it back in the spring! I did buy her latest cookbook. I wish I could get some freaking pumpkins around here. I have to buy around thirty each year! Maybe this October I will tell everyone to make sure they dump their pumpkin guts in my flower bed! xoxox
