happy friday: wins for the week

Friends, I'm tired. I think the third trimester hit hard this week. Combined with another hectic week at the office, I am simply zapped. And as I look through the photos on my phone to see what might be worth sharing with you on this lovely Friday, I am coming up short. More than short. I have zero photos from the week. Zero.

So, I think I'll approach this Friday Favorites post with a few wins from the week sans photos.

ONE
We've made BIG strides in the potty training department with Little L. As a matter of fact, I'm a hair away from calling him fully trained. He's wearing undies all day long and staying dry. At night, I'm still putting a pull up on him but he's woke up three out of four mornings still dry. So, this weekend we will completely do away with any sort of non-undie. Can I just say how happy I am that I won't have two in diapers at a time?!

TWO
One of our summer goals was for Little J to learn to tie his shoes. Actually, we told him he couldn't go to first grade without learning to tie them. Well, he's tried off and on throughout the summer but has given up easily every time. BUT this week, he did it! We told him school would be starting soon and he had to spend some time practicing or he was going to be the only first grader who couldn't tie their shoe. One afternoon of focus was all it took! Amazing.

THREE
I have successfully trained my hair to go one more day without being washed. This is huge for me. I was the girl who absolutely HAD to wash her hair every single day. Then, I read a blog post about training your hair and discovered dry shampoo. I've been on an every other day schedule for quite sometime now. And then, a few weeks back... Tif from Bright on a Budget talked about how she can go SIX days without a wash. SIX days. If she can train her hair to go SIX days, surely I can throw in one more. I first started the training over a weekend and so far it has stuck! Ohh - not having to wash and blow dry for two days at a time, priceless!

FOUR
I am working through my pre-baby to do list and I'm finally starting to make some progress. Not as much as I'd like, but I'm marking things off! We have an infant car seat - check. I finally turned in my leave request papers - check. The car door handle on the rear driver's side door is fixed - check. (The handle had come off a few weeks ago and we've been going without a functioning door - talk about fun!) And most important of all, the kitchen is getting tons closer to being functional again - check. I know I haven't mentioned it at all, but we have been remodeling our kitchen for several weeks now. It has taken FOREVER. Starting last Friday, we finally have cabinets, new flooring, and a snazzy new over the range microwave. By the weekend, I should have newly installed counter tops, cast iron sink and dish washer. Check, check and check! Still lots on the list, but that is a ton of much needed progress for this anxious mama.

Well friends, if you're still with me, I hope you have had an amazing week and your weekend is even more fabulous! I'm hoping to get lots more marked off this list. And rest some too. My feet and ankles are huge and the round ligament pain going on over here is really uncomfortable.

Oh, speaking of baby... earlier in the week, I shared 3 reasons to choose gender surprise. If you haven't already, head over and check it out!

Happy Friday!

  3. I felt the same way about this week, like "what even happened??" Pics on my phone were my saving grace, haha! And that's great about your hair! I have a wild, thick mane that I've never had to wash every day, thank god, because that would take forever!

  5. Happy Friday! I remember how tired I was with only having one little one and being pregnant. I can't imagine how exhausting it must be with two. I hope you get some rest this weekend. Good luck with the potty training! It sounds like he might have this! Beautifully Candid

  6. Getting stuff done feels sooooo good. Congratulations. Remodels are so trying, but oh so worth it when it's done. Can't wait to see pictures. Get some rest and put those swollen feet up for a bit. Have a great weekend!

  7. I liked the picture you added to the post. It's okay, I didn't get many pics this week either so I totally understand.
Happy weekend to you as well

  10. I'm trying to break the habit of washing my hair every day! I need to check out that blog post you linked to. Even on days when I don't wash it I still rinse it in the shower because I need for it to feel fresh each morning! I think I've got to get on board with dry shampoo!

  12. Wooohooo on potting training! I was the same way with my hair (had to wash it every day) and now I wash it on Sundays and Wednesdays...until this summer...now I am back to washing it every day. UUUUGGGGHHH. I am going back to dirty hair this week...you convinced me.

  13. 6 days without having to wash your hair??!! WOW! I'm like how you used to be- I can't go one day or else it's so greasy. I'm really interested if the people who go 6 days work out because in the summer after I run my hair is basically drenched. Yuck!

  15. Teach me your potty training ways. Ugh. We are working on it and they started daycare today, so hopefully the teacher's can help too. Do you remember the link for the original post on training your hair? I wash my daily except when I get my hair done the day before and after I get my lashes put on.
