friday favorites: the kitchen reveal edition

Hellooo Friday! Let's kick off the second Friday in August with a few favorites from the week.

ONE | I am thrilled to report that my kitchen remodel is complete! I love everything about it even if I do not love how long it took. Here are a few photos of how it came together.

Everything about this kitchen is a favorite, but a few of my favorite favorites are having a dishwasher (I have been a true pioneer woman - ha), the cast iron sink and how deep the basins are, the light above the stove, and the anti-fatigue mats I picked up at Lowe's. I wasn't sure about the curtains when I first hung them, but they've grown on me the longer I've let them hang. Our biggest accomplishment was creating a ton more space than we had before.

TWO | I vacated on Monday and Tuesday and tackled our upstairs bedrooms. We use one as a playroom and the other as a guest room. The playroom was a disaster - the kids didn't even realize all the different toys they have because none of the pieces were together. It was like Christmas all over again as we organized and reassembled. As for the guest bedroom, I have a terrible habit of just dumping stuff in there, closing the door and walking away. I finally put everything back where it belonged, purged a little, organized, etc. Now, when Baby arrives, there's a place for my Mama to sleep when she visits. That's a surefire win. I also unearthed things like my breast pump, the bouncer seat, monitor, and a few other baby items we'll be needing very soon!

THREE | My oldest started first grade this week. I am seriously trying to wrap my head around where time has gone, but yet I am so stinking proud of him. He loves school!

FOUR | The car seat and stroller I ordered arrived. I went with a really pretty kelly green and I am loving it. I had the stroller together and functioning within 15 minutes without even reading the instructions. It's a little bulky, but we needed one that was a little more heavy duty. Walks on the farm have been difficult with some of our past strollers. Not to mention at the ball field where the rocks in the parking lot are gigantic. I also had our car detailed, so it's officially ready for seat #3.

FIVE | Our white hydrangeas are turning pink! I'm not sure what caused this, but they are so pretty.

SIX | I have a work event next week that I need to look fairly decent for. It's during the day, so I don't necessarily need a LBD, but I do want to look classy and professional. I promise I'm not in denial - I realize this is more difficult to achieve in the 9th month of pregnancy. My cankles and swollen feet will surely garner more attention than any dress I wear. Ha! Anyhoo, I ordered five dresses. I'll send four back, but since my timeline is short, I wanted to have options. Which do you like best and why?

Well, I think that about sums it up for me. How was your week? Any big weekend plans? I'm hoping to mark a few more things off that baby prep list and get some rest - these cankles are just not attractive nor are they very comfortable.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

  1. Love the look of the new kitchen! I'm sure that's a relief to have it finished before baby. I like dress 3 and 4, but honestly, this far into the pregnancy, I'd go with whatever is cheapest if you're not going to get many more wears out of it. Hope you have a great weekend!

  2. Love the kitchen, and just hearing about your organizing is inspiring! I have a guest room I need to clean out, too. Love the hydrangeas and good first days of school. :) Oh, and I'm leaning toward the first and the last dress--guess I'm drawn to that hemline. Happy Friday!

  11. The kitchen looks GREAT!!! Woohoo for having that completed. Yay for cleaning out. That feels so good. The new carseat looks nice. Baby stuff is so sleek these days. I love the striped dress and it would be camouflage for the cankles😉 The big day will be here before you know it! Have a great weekend. XO

  12. Congrats on the new kitchen. It looks incredible. And, nice job with the toy clean-up. I'm sure that's a relief! The Kelly Green on the carseat is so beautiful. I just love it. All of the dresses are so pretty. I think number 3 is the most work-ish, and I really like it. However, I also love lace! So those are beautiful options too!

  14. Your kitchen looks lovely! I am so glad it is all finished! I can't believe that your kiddo is starting school already. The kids here don't start until September. I love the maxi dress above, but I am partial to those. They are just so comfortable! Have a great weekend!

  15. I LOVE your kitchen! It looks amazing. Funny story, I finally got a dishwasher in December and felt like a pioneer before getting one! Hahahaha! But there is something about handwashing dishes too that is relaxing sometimes. I am so happy you have one now though! All the baby things...how exciting! Happy weekend!
