friday favorites: you might be a nerd if

Happy Friday, Friends - I hope your week has been just lovely! I decided to use a couple of vacation days and commence operation prep for baby. I may or may not have used vacation day number one as a complete Trista Day. So, I better make this short and sweet and get busy prepping. Oh, where to start... Favorites first.

ONE
My oldest and I have started a back to school shopping tradition. I take a half day vacation and we take a glorious trip to Office Depot and then clothes shopping. He is seriously his mother's child. He loves Office Depot as much as I do, and I'm pretty sure we could spend several hours just perusing all of the gadgets, gizmos, and fascinating supplies. I mean who doesn't love that smell? You know, the one of paper and pencils and binders galore?! Okay, moving on...

 TWO
Speaking of that sweet child of mine. He made another trip to the Farmer's Market on Thursday. He came home with corn, watermelon, and more blackberries. But melt my heart, he also purchased his mama a bouquet of flowers. My cup overfloweth. Aren't they beautiful?

THREE
Between last weekend and my unproductive Trista Day, I've managed to get in some TV time. I finally watched The Hunger Games: Mockingjay movies. I read the books forever ago, but had never finished the movies. I thought the first Mockingjay was pretty good, but the second was just okay. I watched Insurgent as well. I know folks have said not to read Allegiant, but is it worth watching the movie? I finished the Scorpion episodes that I've had recorded from forever ago. I was so pleased with how the season ended, but I felt like it left the door open for the show to conclude and not renew.

FOUR
I rarely take time to actually look at myself in the mirror. Is that weird? I mean, I look at my face when I'm putting on makeup in the morning and I make sure that the outfit I've thrown together looks presentable, but I don't often actually LOOK. Except for this past Wednesday. And when I did, I saw just how pregnant I have become. Baby does nothing but put on weight from now til delivery... if I'm only 33 weeks, just how big is this baby going to be? I'm seriously getting so excited to meet him or her, but I very much hope he or she hangs tight for a few more weeks - for baby's health and my sanity.

FIVE
A few weeks ago, April from Smidge of This shared how much she loved Ja-vie flats. I have been wanting to try a pair ever since. However, I couldn't bring myself to purchase a pair at full price - they are normally $68. But on Thursday... they advertised a $29 flash sale for three of their styles. I picked up these navy/pink beauties and I cannot wait to try these out.

SIX
ICYMI, I linked up with Andrea earlier in the week and shared some of my favorite apps. I loved reading everyone else's favorites. I now have half a dozen new apps on my phone - my favorite new addition being Google Keep. I also joined Allie from A Gal Named Al and shared the BEST fresh peach cobbler recipe ever. Make sure you check both out!

As I mentioned earlier, this weekend kicks off operation baby prep. I'm really hoping to get a lot done so I can mark a few things off this massive to do list. I hope you have a fabulous weekend filled with lots of fun, relaxation, family, and good food!

  1. You look great! My daughter and I take a day to do back to school shopping but this year I ended up ordering the back to school kit from Amazon that had everything in it that she needs for the year. I will take her to the mall for a little girl time closer to school starting - we have a month! Peach cobbler....my spirit animal!

  8. I love shopping at places like Office Depot as well, and I have about 30 notebooks to prove it. I didn't realize I had that many because I had them stashed in different places. I guess I'm going to have to go on paper-buying-lockdown for awhile.

  12. My kid has been asking to go to Office Depot for her supplies, which I thought was rather strange since we always hit up Target or Walmart. Your baby bump is so cute!

  13. Happy weekend, Mama! I saw April's post on Ja-vie flats and cannot believe I missed that flash sale - what a steal! And I love that you take a half day vacay for school supply shopping. What a special tradition - and probably WAY less stressful than fighting the lines during the weekend! I hope y'all have a fun weekend! You are looking great!
