9 things i can't live without during summer

There are just some things I can't live without during the summer months. Most of these items are must haves year-round but become even more crucial in the heat.

[1] Batiste Dry Shampoo - I've been a convert of dry shampoo for several months now, but as summer has arrived, I can't imagine going without the stuff. I have pretty oily hair and can only go every other day without a wash. That is a huge improvement for me since I could never skip even one day before I started using dry shampoo. But in the summer, when it's daylight longer and morning comes too soon - the day for dry shampoo saves me so much time and effort. It's wonderful. I've tried a couple of different kinds, but Batiste has been the best so far. Especially during this heat when the oil is even harder to combat!

[2] OFF! Family Care Insect Repellent - The best time for me to work in the garden is in the evenings. And who wants to miss cook outs or summertime family nights outside? Not this girl. Although I'm not hearing much in the news these days about the Zika virus, I'm also not interested in being the first statistic in my area. Baby #3 is set to arrive in September and I want to make sure we're all good and safe. Plus, who likes bug bites anyways?

[3] Coppertone Kids Sunscreen - I carry a can everywhere. There's no telling when my kids will need a good spray, so I keep this with me constantly. I find that they don't mind it at all, so that's a win in my book!

[4] Neutrogena Clear Face Sunscreen - My skin is incredibly susceptible to break outs in the summer. I feel so much better about lathering up with sunscreen when I use this because it's oil-free and doesn't clog my pores.

[5] Neutrogena Clear Pore Daily Scrub - I use this daily. It's one of my favorites because it contains just a little benzoyl peroxide which helps dry my face up some. It's not so strong that it causes it to flake but definitely helps control the oil and prevent breakouts.

[6] Palmer's Tummy Butter for Stretch Marks - My belly is getting bigger and stretching more every day. Plus it's that time where you start to get itchy in pregnancy. I have used this tummy butter with all of my pregnancies and love how much better it makes my stomach feel and how it helps minimize those stretch marks.

[7] Arm & Hammer Ultra Max Deodorant - Yes, this is man deodorant. Does anyone else struggle with the heat, anxiety, etc? I used to spend tons of money on the Rx strength deodorants for women until someone educated me on the fact that women's Rx strength is the same as a regular man's deodorant and loads cheaper. So, I'm saving all kinds of money and smelling lots better with the unscented version of this Arm & Hammer.

[8] Burt's Bees Moisturizing Lip Balm - Is anyone else addicted to this stuff or something like it? I have a tube in my bathroom, one on my desk at work, and another in my purse. Even the thought of not having access to chapstick makes my lips crave a coat. I particularly like Burt's Bees, it's my favorite by far. I can do any flavor/scent just as long as it's accessible at all times.

[9] Refresh Optive Lubricant Eye Drops - I'm a contact lens wearer and I struggle with dry eyes. Add summer and allergies to the picture, and my eyes become really dry. These drops are wonderful. I use them first thing in the morning and then just as needed during the day. My eyes feel so much better using these daily and a Rx is not required. They are not cheap but they are worth it. Plus, a bottle lasts me for several weeks.

What can you not live without during the summer months? What's something new I need to try that I'm missing out on?

Hope your week is off to a great start!

  1. I'm glad to hear another good review of Batiste- I always think of putting it in my cart, but I need to pull the trigger soon! And yes to bug spray! My daughter and I basically need to bathe in it in the summer time. Have a great Tuesday!

  2. Trista, I love all of these. I need all of these in the summer as well! I am going to have to try that face soap!

  3. Love this list! We are constantly slathering on the sunscreen over here!

  4. This is a great list! I've heard so many people talk about that dry shampoo and every time I am in the store it never crosses my mind to buy it. I have to remember this next time! Beautifully Candid

  5. Like Allie, I've looked at the Batiste several times and been tempted. Maybe I'll give it a try. YES to Arm and Hammer...I use that too. I go back and forth between it and Almay for sensitive skin deoderant (I can only find it at WalMart). It works really well...if you know what I mean๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘ƒ๐Ÿผ

  6. The facial sunscreen sounds like a good idea! I have a facial moisturizer with sunscreen, but for something like a beach day I think a higher spf would be smart idea!

  7. Thanks for sharing! What a great list!

  8. Great list! I always have eye drops in my bag in the summer. Dry eye is the worst and its so bad in the summer.

  9. Yes, definitely addicted to lip balm and Burt's Bees is my favorite! The Neutrogena scrub sounds perfect for me, I'll have to give that a try!

  10. Yes to all of this! Sunscreen and bug spray are must haves this time of year, and yay for nurturing your growing belly. I loved Mama Bee by Burts Bees while I was pregnant last year, and I need to try that daily scrub <3

  11. I've also been using dry shampoo recently and really like it! I love Burt's Bees and the Palmer's lotion was a huge help to me when I was pregnant with Little. It didn't keep the strechmarks away, but it definitely helped my skin feel better!

  12. I use Not Your Mother's dry shampoo but should probably try Batiste. AMEN on the men's deo - girl's just isn't much (much like girl's razors, can I get an AMEN?) If I lived in a world without Off I wouldn't be living. I spray it all over because of ticks - I could care less about 'skeeters! LOL
